Hi, I am Naquita Amey Hendricks. I am a qualified journalist; however, I have always felt that marketing is my calling. I am the youngest of three children. I started my career writing for a hyper-local newspaper and then moved to one of South Africa’s biggest radio stations to work as a reporter and covered major stories, including gang violence and major gang cases.
Even with the thrill of investigative journalism, I felt there was something missing, and I then moved to South Africa’s top-selling Women’s magazine, FAIRLADY Magazine. As marketing was something I was very interested in, I took on a marketing position at the magazine. There I worked with brands such as Elie Saab, KitchenAid, Woolworths, Lancome, Titan Watches, Lipault, Geberit, Samsung, Defy, and many more. I then moved on to work at CarZar as PR and Social Media specialist.
What about Digital Marketing interests you?
I am very intrigued by digital and how it is advancing businesses. Marketing comes as second nature to me and therefore by linking the two is simply something that I intend to master.
How did you come across Deeply Digital?
I came across Deeply Digital on LinkedIn and I was very interested in the business.
How long have you been part of the Deeply Digital team for?
Just over a month now.
What did you do before joining the Deeply Digital team?
I worked as PR and Social Media Specialist at CarZar.co.za, a start-up specialising in the second-hand car industry.
What have been the highlights of your time here so far?
The fact that every day is not the same. I continue learning so much from everyone I work with and the business offers further learner opportunities as well.
Do you think there is room to grow in the company?
Definitely! Not only career growth but personal growth as well.
How do you find the work environment and the team you work with?
Everyone is amazing! They are always willing to help and have a great work ethic.
Is there anything that you’ve learnt at Deeply Digital that stands out?
You never stop learning. You don’t need to know everything, just never stop learning and asking questions.
What is your favourite social media platform and why?
I love Instagram, perhaps a little obsessed with it! Instagram is Visual – There is nothing better than a picture to tell a story. Instagram is an art form, a means of self-expression, and a virtual stage for storytelling in the twenty-first century. IG is an educational platform and is great as a marketing platform. It is proving to be a powerful outlet for businesses to level with the public, offering visual proof that they, like the public, take time to post about their lives.
