Born in Johannesburg, I went to a school called Pridwin before moving to Cape Town when I turned 10 and attended Bishops Prep School and Bishops Diocesan College until I matriculated. After matriculating in 2013, I attended Stellenbosch University, studying a BA in humanities, before moving over to IMM in Stellenbosch, studying Marketing Management instead.
After getting the opportunity to do an internship with Rhino Africa from the 1st of March 2017, I moved back to Cape Town to study part-time. I interned at Rhino Africa for 5 months before getting the opportunity to move to the digital marketing agency that I am currently working at, Deeply Digital. I am, however, still completing my degree, looking to graduate at the end of 2018.
I am a sports fanatic, with surfing and playing golf being my two favourite hobbies. I also have a keen interest in the stock market, I find it extremely fascinating and am learning a lot from it.
What about Digital Marketing interests you?
Everything to be honest, from the algorithms that the social media platforms use to the automated scheduling tools to the coding that goes into website development. It is a fast-growing industry and the online sphere is unimaginably fascinating.
How did you come across Deeply Digital?
During my internship at Rhino Africa, the CEO, Richard Walton contacted me via LinkedIn and offered me the opportunity to come in for an assessment to be able to join the company.
How long have you been part of the Deeply Digital team for?
I have been at deeply since July 10th. So, just over 3 months.
What did you do before joining the Deeply Digital team?
As mentioned before, I had been interning at Rhino Africa, a travel company that is based in Gardens.
What have been the highlights of your time here so far?
Every day is a highlight at this company, but the one event that stood out for me was when we went to watch one of our co-workers, Josh and his band [grassy spark], perform at the Brass Bell in Kalk Bay.
This was in my first week, and what amazed me was how quickly members of the team integrated me and made me one of them.
Do you think there is room to grow in the company?
I do. We have only been around for a year, and therefore I believe that we are a company who is going places. With that, employees have lots of opportunities to grow themselves.
How do you find the work environment and the team you work with?
How do I put this… Fun, quirky, unusual? I mean, it’s awesome working here. It’s one of those environments that makes coming to work every day not feel like work at all.
Is there anything that you’ve learnt at Deeply Digital that stands out?
I have learnt so much that I actually am not quite sure where to begin. If I had to choose something, I would say that what I am currently learning as part of the SEO course that we are doing has been the most fascinating.
What is your favourite social media platform and why?
I would have to say Twitter, and I know I’m going to get a lot of slack for saying so, but if you’re in need of some laughing material or for a quick supply of information, Twitter is the perfect platform for it.
