I’m Kris aka Miss Self Cav. I’m from Johannesburg and have been living in Cape Town for the past year. I’ve been working in the advertising and marketing industry for 5 years now & have found my happy place in Digital Strategy. Things I love include my family, friends, making lists, learning new things and Gqom.
What about Digital Marketing interests you?
It’s everchanging nature. There is always something new to learn and always a different way to make something happen.
How did you come across Deeply Digital?
A friend, Josh, posted about Deeply Digital on Facebook saying that the team were looking to expand. Looked like a great opportunity so I jumped!
How long have you been part of the Deeply Digital team for?
I started at Deeply Digital in January 2017, so going on a year now. Time has flown! When I started there were only 3 of us on the team.
What did you do before joining the Deeply Digital team?
I was working as Social Media Strategist and Content Creator at an agency in Greenside, for Audi South Africa and Audi Middle East.
What have been the highlights of your time here so far?
Definitely the team. I love everyone I work with. If you enjoy the people you work with, waking up every morning and getting into the office on a Monday is a breeze.
Do you think there is room to grow in the company?
Yes. I’ve had the opportunity to move into a few different roles this year. The agency is growing really quickly which makes it the perfect setting for career progression. There is a large focus on training and upskilling at Deeply Digital too, with incentives for self-study and regular workshops.
How do you find the work environment and the team you work with?
I like the culture at Deeply Digital. It’s built around the idea of a healthy work-life balance. This means there’s options to work from home or take advantage of flexible hours. The team are all young and fun to work with – our new offices are dope too!
Is there anything that you’ve learnt at Deeply Digital that stands out?
There are a few things I’ve learned this year at Deeply Digital (over and above developing my skills in digital marketing):
- Mistakes are a great opportunity to learn and improve and people should be encouraged to be open about times they’ve messed up.
- If you’re willing to learn and put in the effort, there’s not much you can’t achieve.
What is your favourite social media platform and why?
Twitter. I like the realness and openness that users have on the platform. Everything’s in real time and there’s super valuable content being shared, and conversations being had on Twitter.
